Episode 3 Crimson
The T-rex opened his eyes, and he groaned as he tried to move from his pod.
"You shouldn't move, you've been on a long journey." Gaia says sweetly
The T-rex says something in some ancient lizard tongue before lazily looking around the the hanger. He says something again in his native language before gazing upon Gaia. He was silent for a long time as he stared deep into her ocean blue eyes.
he gasped
"Good we're getting somewhere, but I think we would make better progress if we both listened to each other."
She took the T-rex's head into her hands, and gently placed her head onto his. A bright white light filled the room and for a second everyone was blinded and then Gaia winced.
"Priestess!" General Falcone gasped as she began to descend to help Gaia.
"Did he hurt you?" she asked reaching for her sidearm.
"No, he did no such thing. I just hit a mental block." Gaia reassured. "I was giving him information so that we'd be able to speak more clearly, but I hit a mental block."
"So he doesn't know how to speak to us?" General Falcone asked
"I wouldn't say that." the T-rex replied as he rose from his pod.
"You're talking, and you're sitting up." Falcone gasps as her hand hovered over her sidearm.
"Yes, I feel a little better after priestess Gaia taught me your language." the T-rex replies
"I also gave you a little energy, I figured you were weak from your long travel." Gaia states
The T-rex walked over to her and placed a three fingered hand onto hers.
"You did not have to do that, I'm a disposable unit. I'm meant to be sent out to die."
Gaia shook her head.
"Not to me you aren't."
Falcone stepped before them.
"What do you mean you say you're a disposable unit?" she asked "Are you a soldier?"
The T-rex shook his head.
"No I'm a farmer, there's thousands of us across the stars. We're supposed to cultivate worlds and build places where the empire can get resources."
"Empire?" General Falcone asked "you're saying there's more of you?"
The T-rex nods "not just me the tyrannosaurus but other dinosaurs as well."
"But why send a child? wouldn't it be better to send a veteran soldier?" Falcone asked
The T-rex gave her a look "I'm not a child." he declared "I am 19 years old. However I am still just a rookie."
"This was to be my first mission for the glory of the empire."
"There you go again with the empire." Falcone states "What's that about?"
Crimson thinks about that for a moment before he walks to his tube and pulls out a small object.
"Perhaps this could answer all your questions." he says before he clicks the object and it reveals itself to be a holographic device. An announcer began to speak to the whole hanger.
Millions of years ago, the dinosaur empire ruled the entirety of Terra Gaia. At first they were just mindless beasts, content with only short term survival and displays of dominance. It was however during one of the more turbulent periods that one lone dinosaur discovered the monolith. A sleek black rock that towered over even the bigger dinosaurs, this rock bequeathed unto the dinosaur race the gift of sentience. At first it seemed that nothing had changed among the dinosaurs.
But then the mother of Terra Gaia appeared to them in the form of a blue star. Under her leader dinosaur society could finally begin. What started as scattered tribes soon quickly developed into close knit communities with dreams of paradise, a dream of Eden.
So the dinosaur empire grew from this dream and prospered for thousands of years, they developed the brightest minds in every field; Science, art, philosophy, chemistry, and even astronomy.
It was thanks to astronomy that the dinosaur empire was able to discover the asteroid. During that time dinosaurs did not have technology to destroy the asteroid, but they did have the technology to avert their destruction. Sadly however not every dinosaur would be saved.
So a lottery was put in place, who would stay and who would live? In the end only 500,000 different species of dinosaurs fled the doomed planet. Since then the dinosaur empire lived in space, at first living in their space station known as the ark, and then they began to regrow as a people. Living in space was nice as it allowed for the dinosaur empire grow even more as a people. We studied the universe around us, we created great ships to explore the stars, and we even began settling on undiscovered planets.
This was known as the renaissance.
However it was soon discovered that Terra Gaia was not destroyed by the asteroid. Our scientists were eager to discover the fate of our cradle world, but sending a large team on an expedition would be too costly. So we sent our best and brightest to explore our long lost world and report to us his findings.
The holographic feed finishes and the object becomes silent.
"Any questions?" The T-rex asked
"Yes a couple." General Falcone replied "why send the one scout if you have a whole empire of dinosaurs that could explore the world better?"
"It's simple really." The T-rex began "You see the empire is big, so big in fact that everyone is busy doing something. Scientists are researching, explorers are discovering new planets, politicians are being useless, the grand leader is leading all of us, and farmers are tending to the planets that feed us."
"As you can imagine dinosaurs eat a lot of food, so that's why we have all these planets that are used to feed us."
"This is where I come in, I'm a farmer. This is my first mission, and it's my responsibility to make the planet ready to join the empire."
"Do you think this empire of yours can lend us aid?" Falcone asked
"Depends what type of help you may need?" Crimson replied
"Alright now it's time for me to tell you our history." Falcone began "It's only fair since you shared with us."
50 years ago Terra Gaia lived in absolute peace, all cities and zones were happily united in peace and harmony. It was thanks to the combined effort of two people, the great priestess Gaia. A woman you're more than familiar with, she's able to tap into people's latent abilities and help us "level up" so to speak. She was more than happy to provide aid through spiritualism, mysticism, and communing with the greater world around us.
There was also Professor Thaddeus Maker, he is the most brilliant mind that everyone on Terra Gaia knew. He helped everyone with his inventions, he created robots and other wonderful inventions that aided everyone in everyday life. His great mission was to help everyone with his intellect.
It was then that tunnel to the shadow lands opened, By that time, no one knew what exactly was in the shadow lands all that everyone cared about was not discovering what existed within those strange and forbidden realm.
Professor Maker had a different idea, he assembled a great robot army plus a few volunteers. He was adamant in discovering the secrets of the shadow lands, he promised to keep everyone updated on his progress thanks to his camera robot.
For the first few days Professor Maker happily broadcasted his progress through the shadow lands. It was treacherous as the road to the shadow lands, they had to cross country sized canyons, traverse through narrow passages that seemingly went on forever.
Then finally they came across the ancient city, it was here the feed cut out. We don't know what happened, but for the next three months we waited, we prayed, and we hoped for any news.
We were relieved when the feed came back on, however that relief soon quickly dissipated.
Something had attacked the expedition, all of Professor Maker's robots were destroyed, and the volunteers....
General Falcone winced in pain.
All we saw was a feed of a bloody and half dead Professor Maker, trying to catch his breath.
His last words before going completely dark were
"It's your fault, you knew what was down here and you didn't tell me."
He was raving like a mad man, but when he made eye contact with the viewers, you could feel his absolute malice.
Then the feed cut out, months later South city as well as the entirety of South island fell into the sea. The cause of this tragedy was a excavator robot made by Professor Maker.
This was his first declaration of war with the world, and he was going to get his war.
He attacked many islands, bombed many places, and created a lot of discourse and chaos around the world. So we of the Gaian regular army rose up to oppose him.
"Sadly," Captain Falcone began "He's already taken North island and East city. If he somehow takes Central City, all hope is lost."
"So I have to ask you Mr. T-rex, will you help us defend our world?"
The T-rex looked at Falcone, then at Gaia, and finally everyone watching from the upper platform.
He looked at his flying saucer, and then back at Falcone.
"Helping you would be good for the planet?" The T-rex asked
"It'd be good for everyone Mr. T-rex, can we count on you?"
She held out her hand.
The T-rex extended a three fingered hand toward General Falcone's hand and lightly squeezed it.
"Call me Crimson" He began "At your service."
