episode 5 Robot

Buildings crumbled and fell onto each other like dominos in a row. The cause of their destruction merely lumbered through the streets, destroying everything that dared crossed its path. On the streets tanks mobilized to fire their volley onto the robot. Once the order was given every thank raised the barrel of their cannons and fired. The shells of the tank exploded on contact, however the robot did not seem fazed by the attack. The eyes of the giant robot glowed a deep yellow before unleashing a concentrated laser beam from its eyes.

The soldiers in the tanks barely had time to react before the beam made contact with the tanks and melted them inside the hulls of the tanks. Fighter jets assembled in the sky to begin their attack, sequentially each jet fired a missile at the robot, the missiles sadly were just as effective as the tank shells.

The robot began humming from deep within its body, Its chest began to open up as a large and terrible green light began to glow from within its chest and with very little warning green lighting fired from its chest and electrocuted every fighter jet in the sky.

The jets exploded in mid-air, letting the robot once again continue its path of destruction.

from far away the team consisting of Crimson, Salty, Sum, Bigg, and Diamond Pearl watched from a safe place.

"Not even our strongest weapons could hurt it." Salty says as he looks on with his binoculars.

"It's a Professor Maker machine alright." Diamond replies "He was the best engineer, physicist, roboticist, genetic engineer, and astrophysicist we ever had."

"Do we have any plans?" Salty asks, his expression full of worry.

"Not unless you have any special plans." Diamond replies, she takes the binoculars from Salty and begins looking at the robot as it unleashed a heat beam on an unlucky group of soldiers.

She scanned the robot up and down looking for any possible weakness that they could exploit. She bit her lip as she concentrated on anything that could give them an edge.

Then her eyes fell on a satellite dish on the side of the robots massive head.

"There!" she exclaimed before pointing out the possible weak spot.

"Where?" Salty asked and he saw where Diamond was pointing to see a small nearly unnoticeable satellite dish.

Salty gasped, his eyes almost popping out of his head.

"Radio the assault teams, we need to let them know of the weak spot." Diamond orders.

Salty took out his radio and began radioing the assault team.

"This is the recon squad, we found a weak point, you need to hit the satellite dish on the side of its head." Salty relayed "I repeat, you need to hit the satellite dish on the side of its head."

"Roger that recon squad, we're mobilizing a strike right now." the soldier on the other side of the radio replied

Diamond watched from the binoculars as a rocket from a soldier carrying a rocket launcher fired from an apartment building and struck the robot on the side of the head, where the satellite dish was.

The robot stumbled back and for a second it looked like it was about to fall to the ground.

"Again." Diamond said aloud, and the her satisfaction, another rocket fired from the apartment building and it struck the robot in the same spot.

The robot fell down to the ground, the impact shook the city and even the tremors were strong enough to reach the recon team from their safe perch.

"We did it!" Diamond exclaimed jumping up and down.

"That was all you" Bigg states, you and your sharp eyes.

Diamond blushes "Oh, Bigg." she gushed

"I'm glad we were able to get that taken care of." Crimson chimed in "I was worried we'd have to find another place to conduct our recon."

"So what now?" he asked

"Now, we wait for the recovery team to come and collect that big ugly robot." Diamond replies "It won't be easy either, and I bet it'll be really expensive extracting that giant robot."

Crimson noticed something behind Diamond

"Do robots usually glow after they fall?" he asked

Diamond, Salty, Bigg, and Sum looked towards the fallen remains of the robot and to their horror they saw a flashing red dial appear on its chest.

"What's that?" Diamond asks to no one in particular "Was that always there?"

"It appeared as soon as the rockets put down the giant robot." Crimson says

"It started like a full circle, now it's kind of less than that."

Diamond gasps, she then yanks the radio from Salty's flippers

"Get everyone out of there, you're all in danger!" she exclaimed

"Roger that." the soldiers say

"What's wrong?" Crimson asks

"That madman put a bomb in his giant robot. There's no telling how big the explosion will be. We need to evacuate."

Crimson looks at the robot

"I'm guessing the city will be destroyed, right?" he asked

Diamond nods

"And everyone with it." she adds

"Is there anything we can do?" he asks

"The demolition team is on a different mission from here. Unless you have something on your hovercraft that can save us, I'm all ears."

Crimson looks into his hovercraft, his tail waved as he searched for anything useful.

Once he was done, he simply shook his head. "Not a thing."

"There is one thing." Salty began

"What?" Diamond asks "what could you possibly do to stop that robot from blowing up?"

"Well I could hack it." Salty replies "I'm very good with computers."

"Salty, you're an army IT specialist. You're telling me that you know how to hack a machine made by Professor Maker?"

"I'm not saying I know how to do it, but if Crimson gets me close to that robots data port I could try to hack it."

Diamond looks at Crimson

"Can you get him close that robot before it blows?" She asks

"Sure, but finding the data port is a different question." Crimson replies

"Does your hovercraft have an electronic scanner?" Salty asks

Crimson looks into his vehicle again and nods.

"Great, this is a big favor I ask of you Crimson. But can you get us in close to that machine?"

Crimson looks at the fallen machine, and its countdown timer, still counting down with its own electric counter.

"I can get us as close as you need us." Crimson replies

Salty smiles

The two speed off in Crimson's hovercraft, Salty armed with his hacking device. The city below them disappears as Crimson drives closer to the fallen machine.

He activates his electronic scanner to find the data port.

"I hope it's not under it." Salty says as Crimson's scanner locks in on the data port. There was an electronic ding as they found the data port which was on the other side of the robot's head.

"Take us in close." Salty orders

"On it!" Crimson replies as he lowers the hovercraft to the data port. Crimson opens the side of his hovercraft which allowed for Salty to begin the hacking process.

He took one wire on his hacking device and connected it to the data port. The screen lit up with odd and alien characters on its screen yet it seemed like Salty knew what they meant as he began to type away on his hacking device.

Crimson looks on his own countdown clock, they had less than a minute to hack this robot. He started tapping on his dashboard nervously.

Sweat rolled down Salty's face as he continued to hack through the robots security system. He licked his beak as his own countdown clock counted down the seconds until detonation. He had exactly 30 seconds left, he tapped furiously and precisely on each character. Every line of code he successfully hacked, there would be five or ten more lines.

It was a good thing he knew what he was doing, or so it seemed.

20 seconds remained, Crimson felt his throat get dry as he watched Salty continue his hacking. He didn't say anything as he did not want to distract Salty.

He felt his hand drift to the steering wheel of his hovercraft, and his foot began to move to the gas pedal. Crimson must have accidentally pressed on the gas a little, because he caused the engine to rev.

"Don't, I almost got it." Salty says as he finished hacking another line of code.

10 seconds remained

Crimson felt a weight in his stomach, the blood in his body grew cold as the countdown timer began blinking in its finality. He felt his throat tighten and his heartrate beat faster.

Crimson reflected on his life, being born in space. Being educated in the empire, and becoming a farmer.

Was this really how it was supposed to end? To die before he even began to make progress on his mission, how unfair was that?"

Salty tapped furiously on his hacking device, he almost seemed to be one with his machine at this point.

Crimson thought of Gaia one last time, she was the most beautiful face he had seen in all his life. He closed his eyes.

Nothing happened. Salty sighed relieved as he disconnected the wire from the data port.

"We're saved." he said happily

"Are we?" Crimson asked nervously

"one hundred percent, you see I could definitely hack this robot." Salty states

He and Crimson share a smile as the side door of his hovercraft closed.

"Come on, we got a lot to show everyone." Salty says as he held up his hacking device.

Crimson nodded before taking his hovercraft back.
