Episode 4 new friends new problems
Questions went on for hours, Crimson answered them to the best of his abilities. Then once that was done captain Foxx lead Crimson to his new unit.
Sum and Bigg lounged in their quarters as their friend Salty the penguin tapped feverishly on the terminal. What Salty was doing was incredibly dangerous, but he had been hacking through the servers of Professor Maker's servers. Salty was just one of many talented tech wizards in the rebellion and he was doing his best to see if Professor Maker knew anything about the alien.
He was finding nothing yet, so that was good.
The sound of boots on the tile floor alerted him, Sum, and Bigg to the presence of their commanding officer Captain Pearl Diamond. She was not what you would think of an army captain to be.
She wore perfume, accessories, and she styled her fatigues to look as feminine as possible. She was a cat anthro, her ears were hidden under her wavy hair.
"Attention!" She said in a spirited voice, almost like a cheerleader couch. Which is basically how she carried herself.
Sum, Bigg, and Salty stood to attention.
"You guys are getting better." She says sweetly
"But that won't change anything if you let Professor Maker get the upper hand on you!" She exploded
This was so common, the three were kind of used to it. Three years of fighting the forces of Professor Maker and being under Captain Pearl Diamond's command left one almost ready for anything.
"I just got news, we're getting a new member to the team." She beamed
"So be sure to be nice to him"
"Or you'll hear something from me about it!" She growled.
"Why are we getting a new teammate now?" Salty asked "isn't it a bit inconvenient for someone to be signed on to us this late into our service?"
"Normally you would be right Salty, but this new recruit came on behalf of Captain Foxx herself."
"This must be some badass." Sum began
"He probably isn't, if he's getting assigned to our unit." Bigg
"Don't be rude Bigg, our squad may not be the best in resistance. But we do our best when it comes in reconnaissance, and information collection."
"When we can." Salty thinks to himself
"Well, without any further ado, I present to you our new surveyor. Crimson!" Pearl Diamond announces
"Yay!" She claps happily as the automatic doors open revealing an 152 cm tall red T-rex.
"Clap!" Pearl ordered which caught Crimson off guard.
Sum, Salty, and Bigg clapped nervously.
"So we're getting some kind of crocodile?" Sum asked
"Tyrannosaurus." Crimson corrected "a lot of my people lost their size because we stayed in space for so long."
"Space?" Salty asked
"You're the alien from the flying saucer!" Sum exclaimed
"Oh my!" Captain Pearl Diamond gasped "an alien, in my company?"
"No not alien." Crimson began "my people are originally from Terra Gaia, we just left for a few million years because we thought a meteor would kill us all."
"So you're just returning home?" Bigg asked
"More or less, I'm here to help you all with your war against this Professor Maker person."
"Well that's wonderful!" Captain Pearl Diamond exclaimed
"Do you have anything that you can give us to help in our war?" She asked
Crimson thought hard before shrugging
"I did not, my craft was mostly outfitted with farming equipment."
"Farming equipment?" Salty asked
"Yeah I'm a farmer. I wasn't expecting to be in a war." Crimson replied
"We're so sorry to have inconvenienced you for this." Captain Diamond says with genuine remorse.
Crimson shrugs
"It's fine, if this Professor Maker is as big of a threat as you guys say he is, I'll just have to make sure he doesn't get in the way of my mission."
"What is your mission exactly?" Salty asked, Sum, Bigg and Captain Diamond looked at him warily.
"To get Terra Gaia ready to be a part of the galactic alliance. After that Terra Gaia will be afforded the best that the empire has to offer. Technology, medicine, and comfort." Crimson replies
"It will be another golden age." He adds
"Oh my, so you'll be improving life here on Terra Gaia?"
Crimson nods
"So what can you offer us now?" Salty asks
Crimson thinks about this
"Well, my flying saucer is still being looked over by the scientists. So we can't go flying around with that. But maybe I can offer an alternative?"
Everyone watched as Crimson went to his belt and pulled out a cube.
"Wait!" Captain Diamond gasps "maybe you can show us outside?"
Crimson realized what he was about to do, and then nods. They walk outside to the army base, it is here he throws the cube onto the ground.
To everyone's shock and amazement, the little cube began unfolding itself and taking on a bigger shape. Many other soldiers watched as the cube took on a new shape.
It was a vehicle, a sleek black hovercraft. Crimson walked to the side of the hovercraft and opened the door.
"This is the best all terrain vehicle in the empire. Most units of the empire have their own personal vehicles. This one is alotted for farmers."
"What powers it?" Salty asks "stardust, uranium, or a miniature sun?"
Crimson shook his head
"Nothing like that, it's a cold fusion generator. We learned to harness the power of cold fusion a long time ago."
"Do you know how it works?" Salty asked
"No, I'm just a farmer, they don't tell us anything about that."
He presses a button on the dashboard and the doors open.
"You guys want to take a ride?" Crimson asks
"It comfortably seats five."
Before anyone could say anything, everyone gets an alert on their wrist communicators.
"Some other time, we just got an alert. East Island is being attacked by a giant machine."
"That sounds bad." Crimson states
"It is, we need to get to East Island quick." Captain Diamond replies.
Crimson gets into his hovercraft
"Come on, we'll get there faster. I just need the coordinates."
Captain Diamond tells Crimson the coordinates and the rest of the squad pile into the hovercraft. The doors close after them, and silently the aircraft begins to take off. The hovercraft rises to the sky and above the clouds as they begin to fly through the sky soundless and faster than the speed of sound.
As they flew closer to the destination, a large and very bright red laser beam shot through the clouds narrowly missing them.
Pearl Diamond cries out from this as Crimson maneuvers away from it.
"I'm guessing that is not one of ours." Crimson says
"Nope." Sum replies "definitely not one of ours.
"Does your hovercraft have any weapons?" Salty asks
"None, this is effectively a scouting vehicle." Crimson replies
Salty sighs
"Take us somewhere out of the way, we need to make a plan."
